Manage your personal apps

Connect and remove private app accounts from My apps.

My apps is the account-level home for connections that belong to you. Open My apps from the personal section of the left navigation. The connection record is not tied to the active organization, even when an organization is selected in the switcher. Using its features inside organization work is still evaluated against that organization's app policy.

Personal connections use only the permissions granted by your own external account. Other organization members cannot see your files, credentials, search results, or commands through that connection. An organization connection with the same app is a separate record and is managed separately.

Find and connect a personal app

  1. Open My apps in the personal section of the left navigation.
  2. Keep All apps selected to see apps that support personal connections.
  3. Select the app card and review its features and requested access.
  4. Select Connect account and complete the provider’s authorization screen.
  5. Return to My apps and confirm that the app shows Connected.

Use the Connected filter when you only want to review accounts you already authorized. Removing a personal connection affects your account only; it does not remove an organization installation or organization storage connector.

Personal Google Drive

After Google Drive is connected, you can search private files and files shared with your Google account, attach selected files to supported RIIW work, preview Drive links, and run supported Google file commands. RIIW applies your existing Google access; it does not grant access to files your Google account cannot already open.

When a personal Drive file is attached to organization work, RIIW copies the selected export into the organization’s current storage. This keeps the attachment available if you later disconnect your personal account. The source file in Google Drive is not changed.

An older connection may ask you to reconnect when it lacks the read-only permission required for connected search. Reconnect only appears for an existing active grant with incomplete permissions. If no account is connected, the app shows the normal Connect account action instead.

Ownership and organization policies

Your personal connection belongs to your RIIW user account. Switching organizations does not create another personal connection and does not require another provider authorization. An organization may still set personal use to Allowed or Blocked for each supported app.

When personal use is blocked:

  • the account remains connected in My apps;
  • the connection can still be used in other organizations that allow it;
  • personal search, commands, previews, imports, and identity attribution are unavailable inside the blocking organization;
  • changing the policy never exposes or transfers your credentials to the organization.

If an app supports both ownership types, it can appear in My apps and in the selected organization’s Apps page. Connect each scope only when you need it. Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, and future providers can use this model without sharing tokens between scopes.

For GitHub, the personal connection supplies your identity and supports actions performed with your own permissions. Repository selection and automatic task development links come from the separate organization GitHub App installation. Read Connect GitHub to RIIW projects for the complete model.

Remove a personal connection

Open the app from My apps, select Disconnect, and confirm the removal. New searches and commands stop immediately. Existing RIIW records and files already copied into organization storage remain available according to their RIIW permissions.

Troubleshooting

If authorization does not open, allow pop-ups for RIIW and retry once. If Google reports an invalid redirect or missing client configuration, ask the RIIW administrator to verify the provider configuration. If RIIW says personal use is blocked, switch to an organization that allows the app or ask an organization integration manager to review Personal connection access. If an app is missing from My apps, it may support organization connections only.

For organization-owned apps, read Manage organization apps. For the ownership model, read Understand App Center.
