Manage Organization Storage
Choose the default storage connection used for new organization uploads.
Organization Storage controls which active connection receives new chat and task attachments. Open the organization, go to Organization settings, and select Organization Storage under Integrations.
Connections use the shared Apps catalog, but personal and organization management stay separate. Organization connections are added, reviewed, and removed from the selected organization's Apps area and its protected settings. Organization Storage intentionally keeps only the default selector and a Manage organization apps link. Changing the default does not move existing files or change their original storage location.
Before you begin
- Confirm the active organization in the organization switcher.
- Make sure your organization role can manage integrations.
- Ask your cloud administrator for the correct bucket, region, endpoint, or Google account before connecting an external provider.
- Never paste storage credentials into chat, tickets, source control, or screenshots.
Available connection types
Organization Storage supports:
- Riiw Drive, the managed platform storage available without organization-level cloud credentials;
- Google Drive, which creates an isolated organization folder in the Google account used during authorization;
- Custom S3, for an Amazon S3 or compatible bucket managed by your organization.
The default selector lists every active connection separately. If the organization owner connected two Custom S3 buckets, both named connections appear as separate choices.
Connect Google Drive
- Select the organization, open Apps, and select Google Drive.
- Open Manage organization apps to continue in protected settings.
- Select Connect account and complete Google authorization in the new browser window.
- Return to the organization's Apps area and confirm that the connection appears as connected.
- Open Organization Storage and select the organization Drive connection under Default storage for uploads when new attachments should use it.
The personal connection is not a storage default. Each user connects it once from My apps. It provides connected search, task and comment attachment import, Drive-link previews, and quick Doc, Sheet, and Slide commands for that user in organizations where personal Google Drive use is allowed. A selected personal file is copied into the organization’s default storage before it is saved as an attachment. Blocking personal use in one organization does not disconnect the account or affect other organizations. See Manage personal apps and Manage organization apps for the complete feature lists.
If the authorization window does not open, allow pop-ups for RIIW and try once more. If the callback reports the wrong organization, close the window and restart from that organization’s settings.
Connect Custom S3
- Select the organization, open Apps, and select Custom S3.
- As the organization owner, open Manage organization apps, select Add connection, and enter a unique connection name.
- Enter the bucket region, bucket name, access key, and secret key.
- Enter a custom HTTPS endpoint only for an S3-compatible service that requires one.
- Enable Force Path Style only when the provider requires path-style requests, such as some MinIO or compatible deployments.
- Test and add the connection. Repeat these steps to connect another bucket.
- Return to Organization Storage and choose the intended named connection as the default.
Use credentials restricted to the intended bucket and required object operations. Rotate the cloud credential in both the provider and RIIW whenever it may have been exposed.
Change the default provider
Use Default storage for uploads to select any active provider. The selected provider is used for new chat and task attachments. Existing files remain attached to their original provider so links and storage ownership are preserved.
Remove a provider
Open the app from the organization's Apps area, continue to Manage organization apps, and select Disconnect or Remove only after confirming that the connection is no longer required. Riiw Drive is managed by the platform and cannot be removed from the organization.
Removing a connection stops it from receiving new uploads and removes its organization configuration. It does not automatically copy externally stored objects into another provider. Confirm retention and migration requirements with the storage owner before removal.
Permissions and troubleshooting
If Organization Storage is missing, ask an organization owner to review your integration-management capability. If a connection cannot be selected as the default, confirm in organization Apps that it is connected and active.
For failed uploads, verify provider availability, bucket or folder access, file limits, and organization permissions. Continue with File upload limits and supported types or Recover from file errors when the provider is active but an individual file still fails.
